Definition: Journals & Magazines

Author, A. A. (year of publication, Month). Title of article. Title of Magazine, xx(x), xxx-xxx.

(xx=volume; xxx-xxx=page numbers)

  • Only the first word and names are capitalized in article titles.
  • The magazine name should be in italics.
  • Pay attention to commas and periods!

Ballinger, C. (2000, May). Changing time: improving learning. High School Magazine, 7(9), 5-8.

Magazine Article in a Database

Author, A. A. (year of publication, Month). Title of article. Title of Journal, xx(x), xxx-xxx.
     Retrieved month day, year, from database name database.

[xx=volume; (x)=issue; xxx-xxx=page numbers]
  • Only the first word and names are capitalized in article titles.
  • The date when the article was accessed on in a database has to be included.
  • The database name has to be included.
